Components of a Home Business Model

It is essential if you are starting a new, home-based
business that you plan every possible thing that could
happen.

Not only does this help you reach a goal for the
future, it also helps if you are trying to get
financing for your home-based business.

This important information is what makes up a home
business model. And there are four basic components of
each stage of building a business.

A great business model can only be composed after the
components of each stage have been identified.

The components of a home business model include the
infrastructure. The core capabilities are capabilities
and competencies necessary to execute a company’s
business model.

The partner network is the business alliances with
complement other aspects of the business model and the
value configuration, which is the rationale that makes
a business mutually beneficial for a business as well
as its customers.

The offering of a home business model is the value
proposition. These are the products and services a
business offers.

In short, it is what the customer gets for what the
customer pays.

A customer can evaluate a company’s value on two broad
dimensions with multiple subsets.

The vendors marketing and sales efforts offer a
customer value proposition.

Next come the customers. You need to know who your
target customers are, the target audience for your
business products and services.

The distribution channel is the means, which a company
delivers its goods and services to a customer.

This could be through a simple means as the postal
service or a major trucking company driving your
products across country.

Customer relationship is key in a business model.

A Bold Big Step

Quote of the Day:

In life, the first thing you must do is decide what you really want. Weigh the costs and the results. Are the results worthy of the costs? Then make up your mind completely and go after your goal with all your might.

Alfred A. Montapert

Today I will expand a bit on making extra money with the assumption that some folks would not mind making money via some sort market based system. One such system is:

Affiliate Marketing

One of the easiest ways to earn home-based extra income is through what is commonly called affiliate marketing. With these programs you can choose the product you wish to be associated with and to sell. Normally these companies provide you with a free website, called a gateway website. These sites give you a no cost promotion tool to generate prospective customer. Once directed to these to these sites customers can find out about and hopefully buy your product. These affiliate companies’ do the heavy lifting, they take care of processing the orders, handling payments and any customer problems that might come up. You simply promote your site and the rest is done for you. One special note, when choosing a company to partner up with make sure you are getting commissions from 35% to 75%. Normally there are different tiers of commissions. The rule is, the more you sell the more you make. When the checks come in you have the hard job of cashing them.

As an aside, don’t worry just yet if you don’t have your own website. That will be a future step and for those interested I can help you out by covering the topic in a future issue or you can contact me.

For a technical explanation of affiliate marketing check this link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affiliate_marketing

  • Some things you want to check out.

  • We are all about saving and making money, so make sure that you can participate in your chosen program for free or a very low price for as long as you want.

  • There should be no long-term agreement that traps you in something you might find out is not for you.

  • Are you provided with a personalized website for FREE. There should never be a fee for a company gateway webpage.

  • Is there a mentoring system or at least a responsive Q&A system?

  • Make sure the company handles shipping, at least to your location. The company should handle customer service, returns, and other problems. (Some organizations have you take care of payments; while others do not, this is up to you. Both are legit)

  • Is marketing local, regional or international. This choice will impact later decisions about advertising and promotion.

  • Does the company have a good reputation and a physical location if you are dealing with tangible goods? There are forums, websites, and the BBB you can check with. Just remember when running into complaints. Read them knowing that some legit companies get their share of complaints simply because some people are not willing to put in the work. Some folks are just looking for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

  • Is there training?

  • Is your future income tied to residual or onetime sales? This is a fundamental concern. It will be up to you to make this call. There are pros and cons on both sides. One-time commissions tend to be higher while residual lower but are repeated over time if the customer is retained.

  • Is it simple for you to do? I am not saying easy; get over it, nothing is easy. But if it is understandable by you and you can see yourself trying it, I say go for it.

  • Do they pay regularly? Once established as an active member you should be getting paid at least once a month. Many pay weekly once you reach a certain point in an organization. As long as the checks cash it’s all good in my book.

In conclusion, affiliate programs; sometimes called MLM for multilevel marketing is the easiest and most affordable way to start your own business. We will be discussing this and other endeavors as we go along in this blog. Blog at ya next time

MoonLighting

One of the things we can do with this extra money we are making is to set ourselves up to make more. Many Americans rank as a top desire: having a business of ones own. The economy lately is giving no guarantees of security so why not have a back up plan. Now I am not suggesting giving up your ‘day job’. On the contrary, as with most of our ideas so far they have been of the slow and steady variety. You always want to be able to keep the paychecks coming to pay those nagging day-to-day expenses. What I am suggesting is a sideline business, ‘Moonlighting’ as it is often referred to. Who knows, maybe one day when you have a nice steady flow of extra income it can become a primary income. But for the time being lets think sideline.

As I explored in the last issue, it helps to know what you want out of life, or at least what you think you might want. I must caution against waiting for all things to be perfect before you decide to pursue a sideline. If you put off till that elusive spare time shows up this might never happen. What you need before hand is a plan, and you have to get a bit specific about it. I can almost assure you that ‘No Timetable’ = ‘No Start’. It just won’t happen. One does not have to get all Harvard Business School about this so don’t let it scare you. We will create a reasonable plan, a ’to do list’, with steps to tackle with due dates for each. Most people can simply consider their TV watching schedule and replace (at least partially) some watching time to start getting things done. Then work on them one at a time. You can always get up a bit earlier on your weekends or stay up late a bit more. It depends on if you are a morning person or night owl. If you have long commutes you might use this time to listen to educational material or dictate your plans and ideas into a recorder. (As long as you don’t get absent minded about your driving)These will be some of the tools you need to find to get started. So think on it, where can you honestly secret some time away for making your life better? This is actually always the first step and when skipped allows others things to take over any hope of making a start on a business of your own.

One of the best fits for a sideline business is the home-based service business like the virtual assistant we discussed in earlier issues. Ecommerce and affiliate businesses are also a great fit. Making your own products could also be your course. We will get into some of this next issue.

One of the great myths about starting your own business is that you are not smart enough to run you own business. This is just self-doubt, it is destructive and not worth it. If you are a person of normal intelligence with the will to just try, you can run a business. Having said that it is true being your own boss is not for everyone. I do feel that there is no super intelligence litmus test you have to pass to be successful with your own business. In the end it is all about sharing a part of your self with others and anyone can do that.

Over the next few weeks we will be discussing some no and low cost start up business idea that work. We will be looking for the type of business that will bring in steady and repeat sales. We will avoid the scams by using good judgment and research. So start thinking about it right now. Give yourself permission to think you can be something bigger than you are now. I think this is going to be fun. Some hard work, but fun.

What do you want?

What do you want?
Is it just more money or is it freedom from the 9 to 5 job.
Have you actually thought it out?

Do you know what you will do when you get what you want?

These are question that always need attention. When you don’t actively try to get these thoughts clear, what you’re left with is simply wishful thinking. Now don’t get me wrong a good daydream now and then will keep you young and cheerful. But wanting something but not really knowing what that something is, is what marketers count on. Most ads on the Internet sell dreams. These programs will tell you how the author, starting from nothing ends up a millionaire and how they want nothing more than to share all their secrets with you. Isn’t that sweet of them? I’ve read all sorts of business ads and books; I’ve checked out programs and listen to telephone conferences till my ears rang, its kind of my hobby now. As a matter of fact, the other day a very nice lady (well respected in the Internet guru circles) was spotlighted on one such phone conference. She entertained with stories of being dead broke then becoming a millionaire in one year. She learned a few rules, fewer than the number of fingers on two hands. These magical rules changed her life. As she tells it, she will teach these secrets to you, hold your hand , so to speak, give you web pages ,CD courses and coaching sessions. All these to help ‘Average Joe’s’ like you and me become millionaires. She is not lying or perpetrating a fraud. She assures you all of this is worth $7000 or more. But for you lucky few; you chosen ones, a mere $900 will get you on your way to everything you want. Getting what you want, that’s worth some money isn’t it? How much money?
So we come back to that question of what we want. There are a ton of these programs out there all making quite similar claims. They are just slightly different (good capitalists must always differentiate products) to make themselves seem special. Some offers went for $395, one for $195, quite a few at $98, $74, $59 and so on. I actually belong to a few organizations but they are under $30 as a monthly fee. (By the way they all end up having monthly fees.) You see I want to take in more than I pay out, so I want to get the biggest bang for my buck. What do you want? Do you know how to get it? By now I am sounding like a broken record but my point is no amount of money you ever put out will make any difference if you don’t know what you want. Tighten it up. Yeah, we all want to be rich, but how rich. What are you will to give up, put up, and shut up about to get rich. What is rich to you? How hard do you want to work for it? Do you want to go to collage to major in Business? Could you be a successful affiliate in some program you like? Do you want to be your own boss? Do you want to have your hand held for $900 like in the above-mentioned program? Maybe you will only put in the time and effort to succeed if you stand to lose all that money. Me, I'm putting that money back into my own business and keep growing it till I have those things I want. And believe me I've thought about what I want. How about you?

Now for something totally different. Be Happy!

What’s up with this happiness thing?
With all the pressure of trying to find extra ways to make a little extra cash, it is easy to lose focus on the important stuff like trying to be happy. Not expecting being happy is simply not good. A simple smile, or the joy of working toward a personal goal; taking time for yourself, believe it or not happiness actually will help you become a healthier person. Because what good is having money if your miserable? (Oh I know some smart a*s out there has got some cute reply but forget it.) Happy is important.
When you're adding to your to-do list, don't forget the good stuff. Is reading in bed your thing, going out to breakfast, taking long walks, listening to music, or just sitting quietly outside? Make sure some of your favorite diversions happen every day.
May I suggest you could try some of these tactics:
1. Chuck the chores. I’m not saying you should let the Health Department close your home down, but if you can’t take a few minutes for yourself, ditch the chores. Do you really have to color code your sock draw. Take a walk, look at the sun or moon, smile. The world is a remarkable place. Don’t ever lose the wonder.
2.Streach and Flex. Add to your strength, self-esteem and independence, work out at least a little. We all have low-energy days, but sticking with an exercise plan will help you feel good about yourself, and also strengthen your immune system and enhance your body's production of mood-boosting hormones.
3. Drop the stress. To stress or not to stress, that is the question. Lets face it, stress saps the joy out of life. It might be hard to accept that many times we actually choose to stress, we don’t let go of what we can not change. I understand problems are hard to shut out, and those same problems must be dealt with. There is truth in the old stand by of ’take a deep breath’ It actually allows more oxygen to get into your blood stream, resulting in a greater feeling of calm. Try it when you’re stressed and you know there is nothing you can do about it at that particular moment. Don’t take on more troubles than you have to.
4. Share what you know and what you can. Celebrate and share your skills; look through the local newspaper or phone book, is there any school, club, or organization with whom you'd like to volunteer or participate. Not only will sharing your unique talents and expertise benefit others, but it has also been known to make you feel good about yourself. That’s a good thing.
5. Appreciate the people around you. Let your hair down, share a few laughs with family or friends once or twice a month. The un-guarded feelings and trust shared with these important people can help give you the perspective you need to cope with everyday challenges. Share a good laugh; laughing lowers blood pressure and releases endorphins that can ease pain. I read that in a science magazine. Laughing is just fun. Friends not around; watch a comedy special on TV, its good for you, have some fun.
Make the most of you life; it’s the only one you at the moment.
We will get back to the other stuff soon enough.

Bail Out and Numbers

Unless you have been living under a rock with earmuff on you could not help but notice that the economy of the U.S. and the world is on some shaky ground. There is enough blame to go around. Politicians, Wall Street Mega Investors, asleep at the wheel Regulators, a certain President, unscrupulous lenders and so many others. We the people can take some blame as well. Living beyond ones means is the prevalent lifestyle of many American these days. But no matter who is to blame and no matter how it all turns out, I am sure of one thing. We as individuals have a singular responsibility for forging our future financial success; conversely our failures are upon us as well. Looking towards others or circumstances to blame is all too easy. Each of us must summon up the courage and strength to take the actions that will build our better tomorrow. What ever it is we lack to make the journey easier and faster is just a bump in the road. Go over it, around it, if need be under it, just don’t let that bump be your stopping point.

These days, the Internet provides a far-reaching array of “Get Paid To” programs. We have previewed some of them in our earlier issues. We will continue to flush them out to see how they can be used more effectively through out our time here. We will look at the winners and try to steer you from the losers and rip offs.

In these challenging times it is more important than ever to learn the ways to protect and enhance your finances as well as the quality of your life. For our part we will continue to strive to make making extra money our priority. From our first issue we have used Homepages Friends get paid to search, under the stewardship of Dan the tenor man as our mooring point. Remember, as we build this team , your simplest first step is to simply surf the web to make pay per search money. If you work the system, Dan works to build you a downline. Any questions just drop him a note at tenorman8@yahoo.com with Homepages Friends Blog in the subject line.

In search of extra money, you want to keep adding things to your arsenal such as surveys and the various GPT sites we have discussed. New opportunities will build upon these first steps.

A friend and mentor of mine pointed out that many of the old ways of doing things just aren't working anymore. Be it Wall Street or Main Street, we are looking for a better way. It is our contention that with a mixture of team-work (this team we wish to gather) and personal responsibility (only you can do the actual work) we can succeed as both a group and as individuals. A colleague of mine was talking about the simple rules of success and reminded me of another story.

You may have heard of Bill Britt, one of the most successful distributors in Amway’s history. Some years ago, 20/20 did a feature story on Amway. They spent a lot of time interviewing several distributors who had failed and showed the garages full of products they couldn't sell. They whined and complained about all the money they spent yet they were not getting rich.
During the last minute of the show, Mr. Britt was interviewed in front of his multi million dollar home.
He was asked, "Mr. Britt, this business has obviously worked for you. “What's your secret?"
He replied, "There is no secret. I simply showed the plan to 1200 people. 900 said, 'No.' and only 300 signed up. Out of those 300, only 85 did anything at all. Out of those 85 only 35 were serious, and out of those 35, 11 made me a millionaire.

Like so many success stories be it in business or not, it is built upon numbers. Be it the number of searches you do, surveys you take, hours you work, ads you place, it is all about the numbers. Persistence does pay off and with it you will succeed., we want to help.
Let’s work on our own ‘bail out plan’, one that works for us for a change.

Virtual Assistant Part II

Hope you all had a great weekend. Did you watch the 60th Anniversary Emmy Award Show? I missed it. I am told it was one of the most boring in memory; which helps. What does the term “Emmy” stand for anyways? Well I am glad you asked (well you might have if you were here with me). The name “Emmy” is a female version of “immy”, a nickname used for the image orthicon tubes used in early television cameras.

VA part II
Success with the homepages friends websearches, surveys or GPT all take a wee bit of persistence. For the amount of time it takes to do 20+ searches a day is minimal. Going through the surveys sent to you and finishing them is a drop in the bucket and the GPT games, offers and read email sites fly by. You just have to sit down and make it kind of a ritual. It is good to have a hobby mindset so that it does not become too much like work. You can do it while watching TV or at a time of day you want to relax. If you are the type that always has a computer nearby you can do it throughout the day. Many times I hear an odd name or interesting person mentioned on TV or the radio and I check it out on homepages friends search engine. It is all about working the system; it is the only way the system works out. (It you are not a member of our intrepid group yet; get to it. Email Dan at http://www.blogger.com/tenorman8@ymail.com%20). We want to make this thing work for everyone. We hope to expand and grow our group to the benefit of all. Most of all we are always open to suggestions.

Last issue we introduced the concept of being a Virtual Assistant to add to possible resources of extra money. It would require a more serious commitment of time. The possibility of greater earning potential is also there. If you already have some basic office supplies, phone, computer, printer, and possibly a fax machine you could be in business in no time. To review, "A Virtual Assistant or VA is an independent contractor/freelancer and entrepreneur who assists in taking care of the administrative and technical side of someone else’s business or life. They assist with clients business on a contractual basis from a remote location. While most VAs performs administrative tasks they can be more than just a home-based secretary. Depending on the qualifications you bring to the job, the skys the limit.

Being a VA is a reasonable way to make extra money while still staying at home. It allows you to pursue even more extra money by being able to keep up with your other streams of income without the time constraints of a regular 9to5. Here is a link to start some research

http://www.vanetworking.com/what-is-a-va.htm
The plan to have multiple streams of income is a basic tenet of business. Even big business practices it. So here is to making it. We all can do it. Never give up.

Virtural Assistant Part I

Hi to all. If any of you were in the wake of Hurricane Ike, I hope all is well. I know it is not over yet with rebuilding and getting back to whatever normal you can. All our best thoughts and hopes are with you. On an aside, if you were fortunate enough not to have ever been caught in an emergency such as Katrina or Ike you will never know how needful relief can be. If some of my suggestions lead you to some extra money, please consider making a donation to the Red Cross or some other relief organization. The need is great and the funds are running low. Do what you can.

Now if you will forgive me for getting back to our pursuit here. Making some extra money without spending a ton in return. As many of you know we are coming along nicely with the corner stone of this project. The myhomepagefriends GPT surf the net program. Dan is building s for our members and things are coming together. If you haven’t signed up yet go to tenorman8@ymail.com he will give you all the facts and run downs.

With paid surveys being another avenue towards extra change in your pockets I went ahead and started another blog to concentrate on that area with reviews and tips on all things surveys at surveylowdown.blogspot.com . Any suggestion you have on how we can improve our intrepid project just chime in. This is a work in progress and we intend to try and help as many people as possible become wealthier and have some fun in the process.

Now this week’s idea is a bit of a challenge, but one that might pay great dividends. Market yourself as a Virtual Assistant. This has all the buzz going for it these days and is considered a growing field. With the nature of business changing every day, the way business is conducted must also change. Many a small business have an urgent need for help but don’t have the funds for full time staff such as a secretary or assistant.

In a nutshell a virtual assistant (VA) is an individual who provides services for businesses or professionals over the Internet. Communication is generally done online although there may be phone conversations. Files are sent back and forth via email or fax, and completed work is returned the same way. Virtual assistants can have clients in their local area or across the country, sometimes halfway around the world. VA’s can work anywhere depending on what services can be offered. VA’s often never even meet their clients face to face.
VA’s need not limit themselves to working for only one business or professional, instead they may work for numerous clients, whether long-term or a project at a time.
As a VA, you can offer wide-ranging services. Think about your strong points. Are you an experienced secretary? Is desktop publishing your passion? Do you have a law background that would allow you to offer legal assistance? The possibilities for the services you can offer really are endless. You can offer as many or as few services as you’d like. Just make sure you are strong in the services you are going to offer. It’s obviously better to offer one service in which you excel rather than a handful of services in which your expertise is only marginal. Lets take a list of the services a VA can offer that is by no means complete.. .
· Accounting
· Bookkeeping
· Data entry
· Desktop Publishing
· Dictation
· Event Planning
· Internet Research
· Legal
· Mailing
· Marketing
· Phone support
· Proofreading
· Secretarial
· Transcription (medical, legal, etc.)
· Translation
· Travel Arrangements
· Web site design and maintenance
· Word Processing

How much you earn will depend on what you have to offer. Some VA’s charge about $10 per hour while others as high as $50. So depending on what you want to charge it is what the market allows. You can find out what others are making. You can find this out by Googling virtual assistance or possibly checking with you local Chamber of Commerce.
Your level of experience will also have a bearing on your fee. Remember, this can be life experience as well as office experience. A beginner won’t want to charge as much as someone with ten years of solid experience in a fortune 500 firms. As you gain so will your ability to demand a higher fee.

Start up costs for a VA business could be virtually nothing, especially if you already have most of the equipment you’ll need. A computer, Internet connection, a phone with an answering machine and a fax and your ready to go.
Most computers already come equipped with some sort of fax program, and you can usually find a printer/scanner/copier combination for around $100, a worthy investment. Do you already have an office in your home? If not, is there an area you can designate specifically for your virtual assistant business? This is an issue for an accountant but treat what you do seriously and keep records.
In part 2 we will go over more of the fine points and some extra resources.

GPT sites 101

Welcome back, I hope you are moving forward and you are starting to see some small successes and a little extra money. I know it takes some time and you might not have seen your first payout yet but hang in there. Give it time, if you are putting a little extra time into this each week it will start to show results. So here we go again, this week GPT.

My teenage son works at an outlet mall in Las Vegas. Well as I am sure you are all aware the outlet concept is to sell inventory at a deep discount. Being this is Las Vegas, people come there from literally all over the world to get these great bargains. Well this week they were running an even better deal than usual. You buy this duffle bag and anything that you could fit into it was an extra 30 % off. So simply put, you spend money in an effort to save money. My son got some really great running shoes and he was very ‘stoked’, as he would say, about it.

Which leads me to this weeks foray into making extra money. GPT, which stands for Get Paid To. Get paid to do what you might ask; I’ll tell you. Get paid to just about anything. Get paid to read emails, listen to and review music, surf the net (as in issue #1), take surveys (issue#2) play games, shop(issue#3) or test new products.

Our focus will be what is arguably the most common and financially beneficial type of GPT site. Get paid to complete offers. This type is also some of the fastest growing and often misunderstood of all the GPT sites. It is also the most potentially tricky.

These sites are paid by advertisers to reach consumers like you and me. The money these sites are paid in turn is shared to their members for the activities you opt into doing.

For example. Inbox Dollars http://www.inboxdollars.com/?r=cv1964
A well known site which has a good reputation for being legit. Suppose you want to join eMusic. Instead of joining on eMusic’s website for free you use Inbox. By joining through their site Inbox will credit you with $8. It is that simple, well not always. Some sites are quite complicated. They will make you jump through hoops to get the prizes or money they are offering. You must complete multiple offers, one form a silver list and two from a bronze list and another from a list you sometimes can’t even find. It is like trying to read a bad Chinese Menu. So be aware.

A word of warning, some offers require credit cards, and some change there terms of sales when sold through GPT site. So check things out before signing up to buy and for goodness sakes don’t buy things you were not going to get anyways. We are trying to make extra money not waste it. Because as with my son's aforementioned running shoes, he has 6 pairs, he didn't need them. Don't buy just because it seems like a good deal. It has to be a good deal for you.

Here are some legit sites you can check out for now. We will be going over more of these sites and differing varieties of them.

Hits4pay: http://hits4pay.com/members/index.cgi?photomom04

Uniqpaid: http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?B=8505&U=157333&M=2861

Treasuretrooper: http://www.treasuretrooper.com/397225

Mermaid emails: http://www.mermaidemails.com/pages/index.php?refid=photomom04

Clixncash: http://www.clixncash.com/index.php?ref=photomom04

So for now have some fun and start socking that money away.

Shop to some extra cash

Welcome back. As always I hope you have taken a step or two forward on your journey towards earning extra cash. Dan (first issue) is working like a crazy man building down lines for those enrolled in Homepages Friends. [Get paid to web surf] If you haven’t emailed Dan yet; what ya waiting for? tenorman8@ymail.com I would also hope you have signed up for a survey company or two (second issue). Give that a bit of time, but the surveys do come around. Those of you, who emailed me for the large list, you see how long it is. Take your time with them, you can burn out. [This is supposed to be fun as well as lucrative] Today we are going to take into the world of mystery shopping.

My daughter loves to shop. She is not quite obsessed to the point of going into debt or breaking up her marriage. It is just that she gets this gleam in her eye whenever someone mentions needing anything that might necessitate a trip to Target or anywhere else with a cash register. A while back I told her if she was going to be such a connoisseur of the shopping arts, why not get paid for it. In short work we both set to researching how being a mystery shopper (aka: secret shopper) would work and she has been getting paid for it ever since. Just like surveys, you will not get rich and it takes a little time to get established but it is legit and it pays.
Mystery shopping is a tool for business to track and improve service quality, which ensures a familiarity known as brand recognition that corporate America desires for their businesses. Using anonymous, regular folk spies (secret shoppers) has always been a popular tool to get a real boots on the ground evaluation of how things are going for multiple types of businesses. Be it in an in-person visit to the local Mickey D’s or a simple phone call to catalog company or call center, a test drive at a car dealership a customer service review by a secret shopper is a little known but growing tool for Corporate USA.
This is not hard work, you might walk into a local shoe store, and you are tasked with measuring certain behaviors and looking for certain practices or décor/cleanliness. You might have to notice if the associate greeted you as you came in. How long did it take to be served? Where the items you were looking for there and how knowledgeable the sales person was. There are many other scenarios, but they are always laid out for you when assigned.
Many companies not only shop themselves but also their competition. The allusion to being a spy is not that far off? You must be discrete and you are not supposed to discuss your assignments with others. These shop can be of a general nature or a pinpoint accurate search for a certain act or procedure.
There is an off shot of this called merchandising, you know, those folks in stores or conventions handing out free samples in front of displays for a certain company or product. I will cover this in a bit more detail in another issue.

Now for a few warnings.

Scams abound in the Mystery Shopping game. Just follow a few rules and some common sense and you should be okay.

NO legit mystery-shopping site will send you a check out of the blue for thousands of dollars. This happens way to often, sometimes using a name of a legit agency. These are check-cashing scams and should be reported to the US POST OFFICE.

You don’t need to pay for a list of companies that use secret shoppers. There are multiple sites across the web where you can find this information. I will be giving you a few good places to start at the end of the blog. I have also got a very large list of legit copies I will send to you free, just drop me an email with Mystery Shop/blog in the subject line to request yours.

Never pay to be a mystery shopper or merchandiser. No legitimate opportunity requires a fee. (The MSPA offers a certification process that is optional, not required, to get work.)

Pay attention to distance. Don't accept an assignment that pays $10 if you have to drive 20 miles each way to complete the task. The gas will eat up your fee.

Stick to the facts and leave your opinion out of your reports. Unlike surveys where they want your personal opinion, here you want to be Who, What, When Where and How long. Whenever you apply at a mystery-shopping site there is an application process to determine what kind of shopper you are. It would not hurt to have a resume on line but not required. Similar to the survey companies from last issue they have a question that gives them a picture of you as a shopper. Often you are asked to write a short paragraph about the best and worst shopping experience you’ve had.

TIP: Go ahead and write this ahead of time, you want this paragraph to be sharp. They check for proper spelling, grammar and punctuation, since your proof-of-completion reports are submitted in writing. Poor spelling won’t help you get in the door. Don’t let that throw you though. Its not 9th grade English Class.
Once the company accepts you in general you wait for an invite. When they need you they almost always send an invite email; you apply for that particular shop, if you are chosen you are on your way. They will explain how a shop will work. There is sometimes training involved, sometimes not. When you complete the shop you fill out your report, if you have done your job correctly and covered all the information they wanted you to gather your report should be accepted. Your report accepted you can expect your payment to be on the way. The more experience you get and the happier they are with your report accuracy the faster the better paying jobs will come. Most mystery shopping assignments pay between $8 and $10. Merchandising is generally in the range of $13 to $18. Some assignments offer free meals and/or groceries either as a form of compensation or in addition to a small fee. More complex assignments pay more — up to $30 or so per assignment. If you're being offered a lot more than that it should be a warning to you that something just might not be legit.
So are you ready to get started. Let’s start with some of my favorites.

Extra cash from paid surveys.

Hi all welcome back,

I live in Las Vegas, NV, home of the high rollers and big losers. It’s a fun town. It really is and I don’t even gamble. I hate to gamble; it makes me all nervous inside. That is not to say I have never put a dollar in a slot machine. It is hard to avoid all those bright lights and payout signs. I have even won a couple of times. I’m kind of cute I’m told; I get all smiley faced and beam at my $20 dollar win. (It doesn't take much to make me happy). I have also played a few bucks while waiting to pick up a friend and lost it in a flash of whirling wheels and numbers.
If you have an inbox, and have ever done any research at all into Internet opportunities you know how it’s like that slot machine. Those email ads call out to you to put your money in and take a spin. In the end when the lights, spinning numbers, and sound stop you are left with nothing. Those emails you get for the next great thing to make money with are all bells and whistles and very few payouts.

There is a rule I hope you will all take to heart. If you can’t afford it, don’t buy it, if you don’t understand it, don’t try it. I also put forth, if you can’t afford it and want it, save up for it. If you don’t understand it but want to; learn it. Sound a bit like your mother, don’t I. Sorry about that!
Times are tough all over folks and I mean worldwide. No one can afford to throw his or her money away on the unknown. I am pretty sure you all already know that. So what am I trying to get at? I for one am trying to move the conversation toward what can be done about the cash crunch. You could start a blog and engage in a robust and thought provoking socio-economic discussion. Whoops, I’m already doing that, my bad. We could scream bloody murder about Oil Companies and Wall Street bankers making obscene profits – while so many are scraping by just for gas, food, and cloths. But since this is my blog I prefer to talk about solutions ... not problems. I have lived through a couple of these economic down turns and there are two things we can do to get relief.
#1 - MAKE more money
#2 - or SAVE more money

Now, neither solution is as difficult as they may seem. For the most part, all that is required is a program of targeted and sustained action. There is a school of thought that says, ‘you can have anything you want, just not everything you want. [This theme will show up in many later articles]

I hope you all took a first step and looked into Dan’s offer to build your downline while you earn money for surfing the net. (See first post).

So lets look at another way to make a little extra money on the side. I am sure if you have spent any amount of time on the web you have seen those ads for. “Make hundreds of dollars taking surveys” Warning! These ad are like paying to have someone read a book to you. Actually you would get a better value for the read. Never, never ever pay for a survey list. They are too easy to find on the web and at the end of this issue I will start you off with a number of them and tell you where to get more.
Getting paid for your opinions doesn't involve skill or hard work; it also won’t make you rich or replace a full time job. Those ads are lies. Depending on how much time you put into them has a lot to do with what you get out. One other thing plays a big part. Demographics, i.e. who you are, what race, education, age, tax bracket, your job, etc. None of those things can be changed so there is a bit of trail and error to find the best sites for you. These are the nuts and bolts generally speaking for all survey companies.
1. You need a valid email address you check oftenMost survey invitations are emailed to you, so when signing up for surveys be sure to use a valid email address that you check most everyday. Once you are a registered user many sites also let you log in to a homepage and check if any surveys are available you might have missed.
2. Provide current and accurate information. Most sites will ask you to provide information about yourself such as age, marital status, etc. The sites we will be recommending are not in the business of selling personal info so not to worry on that count. You don't have to provide this information, but doing so will give you a better chance at qualifying for surveys in the future. Some site requests you take quite a few surveys called screeners just about you personally. They are not paid but they do often put you in a sweepstake and increase your chances of having targeted surveys sent to you.
3. Register with multiple survey companiesSome surveys are targeted only to women, only to those who live in a certain area, etc., which means you, won't qualify for every survey. Therefore, to make the most money possible you should register with multiple survey sites in order to increase your opportunities.

I’m going to set you up with a few right here and now and will put more down with each issue. If you want a full list right away just email me with your name and email address and I will send you Over forty to choose from. Now remember, some sites pay in cash, by check or pay pal, some pay by points later turned into cash payment or gifts. Some pay in Amazon Gift Certificates. Some only put you in sweepstakes. You will find which companies you like quickly, and then out of no where you will get an invite to a survey that pays $135 for about 10 hours work over 3 weeks time. (I got that one last week) Yippee! So sign up for as many as you can.
Hint: Use the same password for all the sites, it makes it that much easier. Most usernames will be your email address but for those that request it I would say to also employ the same username.

Greenfield: http://www.greenfieldonline.com/ Greenfield puts out a lot of surveys and if you are in the desired demographic you will be happy with this one. They pay promptly $1 to $20 per survey. They have a great deal of IT surveys.

Survey Spot: offers range from and instant win game. They have a $25,000 Cash Sweepstake. Cash Awards are paid out. Details are included in the sign up page.

Survey Savvy: personal profiles are created for each Survey Savvy online community member. The creation starts with your registration information, but can be enriched by answering a series of additional questions that will help them build a more accurate representation, or portrait, of you. Updating your portrait will help you qualify for more research surveys.https://www.surveysavvy.com/?id=2784190&action=join
Test Spin: These folks pay out in what they call spin dollars. They add up and you can get the equivalent amount in Amazon Gift Certificates.

http://www.testspin.com/home/ a quirky little company, lots of surveys, but they don't pre-screen. It is better to just go to their site once in awhile to see what surveys they have open and pick the ones you like. They pay in spin dollars, which you exchange for Amazon gift certificates.

Synovate/Global Survey: https://www.globalopinionpanels.com/ Lots of opportunities here.

Start with this group, they are all quite different in style, they are all legit, and they all tend to send a good amount of surveys your way.

Hint #2 Some of these sites will send more surveys than you can handle. You will also be signing up for more sites as time goes by. I suggest you get yourself a new free email address to handle just surveys. This way when you want to work on them you just go to the one email account and have at it. Don’t feel you have to do this all at once. But try to get started. Send me your name and email address with Paid Surveys Wanted in the subject line and I will send you five more sites at a time so you don’t get overwhelmed.
That's all there is to it - have fun!

What it's all about.

Welcome, I hope you will find something of use on your visits and come back often.I’ve always worked hard for a living. Starting out as a youngster, I have always felt that if someone paid me I had better earn it. When I served in the Air Force I felt I owed my country my best effort, so I achieved the Rank of E5, (Staff Sergeant) in only 2 ½ years, way ahead of my piers. I have run my own company, DoorWay out of Houston, TX. My partners decided to find an easier way to make a living so they left even though we had a contract for a 3000door job. These were two strong strapping guys I am talking about and I am a 5’6 1/2” women. It took me three years and a whole lot of sweat to finish and I did finish. I came in on time, on budget, and with my company reputation in tact. I moved to Arizona for family obligations. I tried my hand at a number of jobs, from airline ramp operations supervisor, to car sales, and then back to construction. I was good at all of these endeavors, I just was not happy with them. I wanted to work for myself. I also wanted the freedom of working from home at something I believed in and would be able to work my own schedule. I started my research. Before I knew it I had information coming at me from every angle and form every conceivable source. Vending, selling, parties, rebate processing, stock speculation, health aids, potions, notions, you get the idea. There is this old movie where a guy yells, ‘I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore.” Or something like that. I just became so ticked off by all those so-called ‘guru’s’ and web masters with their stories of how they started out dead broke yet become millionaires with houses on the beaches of Cancun. They were all so willing to share their secrets for only $29.00 a month, yeah right, that’s a cheap one. Most deals ran from $40 to $70 or a fantastic one-time price of $969.00 (seriously). There would be mentoring; tele-conferencing, telling of secrets, and wham; you’re the next Internet millionaire. Lets break this down another way; you pay them money, they send you e-books and build you a look alike webpage, then you get rich, right. Well if you believe that, I can sell you an acre of the ex planet Pluto at a discount. I really can. [It’s been done!] JI’ve been at zero along the way in life, less than zero after some hard knocks. I have even been misled (taken) by an unscrupulous businessman. If I can stop just one hard working person from getting scammed that way I can count myself one up on the bad guys. I’ve been disappointed in ventures that could have worked if I had had the capital at the time. I’ve been around. But don’t get me wrong; there are opportunities out there a plenty. As with my door business, I found out you just have to find ways to make things work. You’ve just got to be willing to put the time and effort in. You also need to get some good people around you. Those gurus’ are no smarter than any of us, believe me, I’ve met a few. As they say, if there’s a will, there’s a way. I would like to help others find a way.So here’s the focus of my little blog. Money is tight for most of us, as if it were ever lose, and as much as many of us would love to pay that internet genius to hold our hand to riches (as if they would) most of us just can’t afford it. I wanted to change all that. So I found some like-minded folks who felt the same way and were interested in creating a new type of program that really did let you start from zero. Look at it as a great experiment. Could the no money thing be conquered. At the same time could we bring a large group of hard working people along to the success we want for ourselves. Finally, how great could we really make this dream.Strength in Numbers is what we are calling our exciting experiment and we are looking for those who want in because they want more. I will journal our progress till we grow this concept out of this world. I hope dear reader that you might want to take this trip with us. We’ve been exploring ways of generating extra cash with no out lay. At first it will be like an interest, than a hobby, and if you stick with it, who knows. Can you imagine what you could do with an extra $100/month… or $300, or even $600, which is our goal for each member who joins our team! You could sure fill up your gas tank with that! What about putting money aside for your child’s college education? Going out for a night on the town would be fun once in awhile. Taking the family out for a day at the amusement park could be fun. On a serious note you could even fund startup costs for your own business and chance obtaining financial freedom! What you do with your earnings is entirely up to you. We just care that you take us up on the offer to MAKE them!”We found our starting point when my buddy Dan found this site called Homepages Friends. This gem of a site lets you make money just for searching the web. Now there are a couple sites a bit like this but this one is partnered with YAHOO, a name that has been around for quite some time. The site is FREE to join; there will never be any cost to you. There will however be money to be made, all for doing what you probably do anyways, surf the net.[By joining through Dan’s email address http://us.mg2.mail.yahoo.com/dc/tenorman8@ymail.com%20 you take the first step in becoming a part of a new kind of marketing community.]Go ahead and email him with “ I’m interested/blog” in the subject line. Dan will send you all you need to get started.Dan is a real guy; just like you and me, well not like me, I’m a lady. (Yes I Am.). I will give you all his contact information and web pages so that you can look for yourself. Now what he is going to do is: as more of you join via Dan’s email address: http://us.mg2.mail.yahoo.com/dc/tenorman8@ymail.com he will build down lines for everyone. Here’s how it works, you send Dan an email, tell him that I have filled you in on the homepages friend’s idea, and what he is going to do is send you a referral code, use that code and sign up, (FOR FREE). Now once you get that all set up send him your referral code. When we get more people interested in this idea, he will send them your link and that is how your down line is going to be built. The key to it all is doing your searches. Dan is going to do all the hard work for you, and it’s all free. If you were asking yourself why would he be doing this? It is simple; helping you helps him, and it helps me and it helps you and anyone else who wants to join up with our team. And if you choose to refer family and friends to this site, and tell them about this team effort he will help them too. (They may or may not be directly under you but as more join all the down lines grow) The ultimate goal is that our teams will grow to a size so that every month we all are bringing in an extra $600 or more just for doing searches. This is the first of many such ways to make extra money, part-time, with the aim of building on each step to increase the ease of building profitable ventures. Dan’s down lines will be the glue that holds it all together. If we all work this, we will all prosper. In case you would like to read a bit more about Dan and what he is all about, or send potential prospects with questions as to whose team they’d be joining, feel free to check out the following links:<http://www.myspace.com/dgill888> This is his personal account on myspace that he’s had up for over two years now.<http://www.myspace.com/southsideboys2001> This is a page he created for the a cappella group he sang with for three years while at SUNY Geneseo (the inspiration for his email address lol)<http://www.myspace.com/398438370>He hasn’t come up with a name for it yet, but this is his account for advertising this free money opportunityon myspace. Once this takes off we will be adding additional opportunities for our team to help each other make money, so you may want to keep this one handy and check back once a month or so!Bottom line, we are going to under promise and over deliver. That’s the goal.See you next issue,EileenFuture issues will touch on most things internet, business, whether offline or online, serious stuff or silly stuff this group will tackle it and I will keep a running view of all the goings on. Look forward to having an excellent adventure with you all.
